Post 10 - Evaluation of your Blogging Experience

My experience using blogs in the English class were constructive for my learning, because I used all the words that I learned in the semester and I applied in every post, this I helped me remember to be wording and Expressions.

At times, I could write as much without need use a lot of traductor, because when I write regularly, I got better vocabulary that before, but I still must study.

we wrote about the interest matters, not just entertainment, also cases of sexism shown in a fiction character, my election in the career and my indignation. I personally, I would have liked to write also about the action movies or the immigration in Chile, but in general, I liked the topics. Despite a lack of time that I've had lately, I try writing and to practice, Also I believe that is an innovative form to learn a new language, a new subject, or reading the works of the other students.

Ifeel that is a start and still much is to be learnt, but sometimes I reflection about my progress and all the times in class, I just can say that I will try to be better. I can make it right.

Post 9 : A Subject you've enjoyed studying this semester.

My favorite subject of this semester was "Comunicación comunitaria" and although it´s a small EFB of one hour and a half, I found it very interesting.

The teacher explained about the community communication study, the union of the people against injustice and how they began to form radios in where all the persons could access and shared her knowledge and experiences.

Also, in every class one of us had than present about community experience like organizations, authors who investigated the subject and interview to people working in community radios or diaries.

I and a partner we did our work about one organization that explaining and teach people of marginalized sectors about your rights, health and violence against women. They organized educational workshops on Monday and Wednesday, many women’s constantly attend.

I feel that I learned much about the community communication and it´s different areas. I had to study the history Latin American and the history of workers that they rose against the repression.

Now the course is coming to finish and the next class we are going to received guest that speak he experience in community media.

I hope to use these contents in the future.

Post 8: An Expert on your Field

The person that I admire for her work is Lynsey Addario, she was born in November 13, 1973. Is an American Photojournalist and her work being about conflicts and human rights issues, specially role of women in traditional societies.

She has traveled countries like Haiti, Pakistan under the Taliban, Iraq, Darfur, Republic of the Congo, etc. Places that it´s in complicated situation like poverty, violation human rights or war.

I met her work when my teacher of photojournalism subject, he showed us a group of photojournalists woman that they had a big trajectory in conflict zones. I like her work and i think that is important to remember sectors that are found in conflict at present and where not intervention has been for come on way to a best situation.

Is important highlight that in spite of she find in a hard environment and sexist, she achieving a good work and she was able to capture the situation of the people and women’s. This approach was the one that caught my attention.

here attached pictures about her work:

Post 7: My Indignation

My Indignation

My indignation is about the incompetence of Government in environment matter and the little importance that the state gives to places in danger, like Quintero and Puchuncaví, also Tocopilla, Coronel, the Huasco, etc.

All the places mentioned they are sacrifice area, because near the houses exist coal-fired thermoelectric that emitting pollutants such particulate matter (PM), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2), carbon dioxide (CO2), and heavy metals such as mercury (Hg) into the atmosphere. this is so dangerous for the people that lives near in the place and your health.

For example, There are more than 300 people affect with polluting gases in Quintero and Puchuncaví, enough to that the Government take action and give solutions to people, close factory, but it has not done nothing relevant, the situation is same, while the people gets sick for the air pollution.

This is a problem, if the countries prefer the progress and don´t help the people, there is something wrong. The persons shouldn’t suffer the consequences of "economic growth", we have human rights, about live in a medium without pollution.

Post: Sexism shown in a fiction character that i love

Sexism in "The Flintstones"

I remember that I saw “The Flintstones” for the first time when I was a girl, before I went to the elementary school.

My favorite character was Dino, the family pet, but I also liked Vilma Picapiedra, her family was economically stable, and she married without they permission, only for love. She is a nice woman, wife and a good mother, but I think that Vilma is much more important than the program shows, since is intelligent and responsible of make mature decisions in the house.

However, still they describe her how a housewife that she main interests shopping trips and that keep long conversations with her best friend Betty, only for listen to the gossip and wait the time she come back cooking. The worse is that Vilma holds this think, when she talks with her friends and as explain to daughter about proper behavior.

This is complicate, because most the girls saw this cartoon and we normalized these practices that now appears to be inadequate and denigrating, for example, when Pedro called "useless" to Vilma or "the place and role of woman is the house".

Post 5: The Story of a Picture

A good place

In this photo I am with my cousins, it was a weekend where in conjunction with family, we went camping to Cajón del Maipo, a place named “Termas Valle de Colina”.

After arriving and wandering all over the place, we finally decided with my uncles go to explore the hills. There we take multiple photos and they counted us stories and jokes.

when we came back to camp, we went through a wooden bridge and my uncle asked us to sit because he want took a pics. So, although we looked tired, I with my cousins we sat and my uncle tried take a good photo but resulted in images coming out shaky and others bad taken, although also we got one pic of my taste.

This was the first time in a long time that we did come out everyone one weekend, so it was important for me, i feel that we join more, after one year complicated.
